In the winter, when we are burried in snow and our garden dreams seem so far away…..

We picked up a LOOP load this week. This is such a great program and we are proud to be a part of it. Our small farm cannot always handle a large pick up, so it is perfect to be on the coverage list and only commit to what we can handle.

LOOP is a program that partners with the grocery stores to keep food waste out of the landfills and have it utilized in a non-wasteful manner. Each day, a participating grocery store is assigned a participating farm. That farm picks up the produce, dairy, bakery, meat and products that are close to expiry in the store. The farm then feeds those products to their animals following food safe policies.

In the winter especially, it is priceless for us to be able to offer our animals fresh produce when there is no pasture for them to free range. Thank you LOOP!
